The Tallahassee Bar Association’s Champion for Diversity in the Legal Profession Award recognizes members of the legal community who are advocates for diversity and inclusion in the profession.
Nominees must be Tallahassee Bar Association members – lawyers, law firms*, judges, employers or in-house corporate counsel attorneys – who have made measurable progress in the recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement to leadership positions of lawyers who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse; women; members of the LGBT community or persons with disabilities. The award will be presented annually to one member of the legal profession who facilitates inclusion and serves as a role model by influencing and inspiring others to understand the challenges and barriers that some lawyers experience in the practice of law.
The 2017 award will be presented at TBA’s annual Table for 8 event in September. The inaugural award was presented in 2016 to G.C. Murray, Jr.
Nominations must be received by TBA Executive Director Joann Gore by the close of business on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (850) 702-5008.
*If a law firm is nominated, at least one lawyer from the firm must be a Tallahassee Bar Association member.
