COONROD APPOINTED COMMISSION CHAIR BY GOVERNOR AND CABINET
COMMISSIONER DAVISON APPOINTED VICE CHAIR
TALLAHASSEE, FLA – During today’s Cabinet meeting, Governor Rick Scott and members of the Florida Cabinet appointed Melinda N. Coonrod to serve a two-year term as Commission Chair and appointed Richard D. Davison to serve a two-year term as Commission Vice Chair. The terms of both appointments will begin April 1, 2016.
Commissioner Coonrod was appointed by Governor Scott and Cabinet on June 26, 2012 and was confirmed by the Florida Senate on April 29, 2013 to serve a six-year term extending until June 30, 2018. Coonrod received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University College of Business and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale. Prior to her appointment as Commissioner, she served as an Attorney and Administrative Hearing Officer for the Florida Department of Agriculture’s Division of Licensing, an Adjunct Professor at Florida State University, and an Assistant State Attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit. She is a member of the Florida Bar and Tallahassee Bar Associations, United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Association of Paroling Authorities International, American Probation and Parole Association, Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency, Florida Police Chiefs Association and the Florida Sheriffs Association.
Commissioner Davison was appointed by Governor Scott and the Cabinet on August 19, 2014, and was confirmed by the Florida Senate on April 29, 2015, to serve a six-year term extending until June 30, 2020. Davison received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Florida. Prior to the Commission he served as an Assistant State Attorney, an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor, Legal Counsel for the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, and Deputy Secretary for the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Florida Department of Corrections.
