President’s Message. It is hard to believe we are already halfway through the year! Under the leadership of our Executive Director Darby Kerrigan Scott, we are firing on all cylinders going into the last half of this year. Our newest additions, Meghan Daigle (Promise Zone Staff Attorney) and Marva Williams (Pro Bono Coordinator), have seamlessly transitioned into their new roles, so that LAF can continue to provide the legal support and services our low-income community desperately needs. I would like to ask all our Tallahassee attorneys to consider applying for Thunderdome Class 4, a year-long legal training program that provides lawyers with the tools they need to take on family law legal aid cases. Applications can be found here.
As we continue with our mission to provide civil legal services to our fellow Tallahasseans, I would encourage you all to take a case and help change someone’s life. We are always in need of volunteers for our Pro Bono Program and Mobile-Law-For All clinics. At our June Mobile Law For All, our volunteers assisted over 30 clients with their civil legal issues in just two hours! If you are interested in providing legal help to those who need it most, please contact Pro Bono Coordinator Marva Williams at 850-702-5009 to help with the Pro Bono Program, or Meghan Daigle at 850-765-6658 to help at a Mobile-Law-For-All clinic. And lastly, thank you to all of our wonderful donors, supporters, and volunteers for your devotion to our low-income Tallahassee individuals and families.
~ Linje Rivers, LAF Board President 2017-2018
