Foster children in our community “age out” of the foster care system and embark on their own for the first time between the ages of 18 and 21 years old. The transition to independent living is often a difficult one, as most foster children do not have the resources to furnish their first home. Please consider making a donation to the 1st Beginnings Project to help the Young Lawyers’ Section reach its goal of raising enough money to sponsor a storage unit for a year, so that 1st Beginnings can continue to collect and donate furniture and household items to the youth in our community who will be transitioning into independent living as they age out of foster care.
The Young Lawyers’ Section is approximately $1,000 short of its goal, so any donation you are willing to make is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to help the foster youth in our community. A heartfelt thanks to all of the generous firms and individuals who have donated so far, and a special thanks to everyone who attended the Young Lawyers’ “March Madness” event benefitting 1st Beginnings earlier this month!
As you may know, the 1st Beginnings Project is an initiative of the Second Circuit Guardian Ad Litem Program, and is supported by Child Advocates II, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization – which means that your donation to 1st Beginnings is tax deductible! Thank you for your support!
