Column by Marina Brown. The Tallahassee Young Lawyer’s Section Outstanding Thunderdome Participation Award was recently presented to attorney and former judge Dina Foster. Foster has focused her professional efforts toward families, children and the belief that pro bono services are a vital part of any attorney’s mission. Acknowledging the need for such services, Tallahassee’s Legal Aid Foundation developed Thunderdome — a “boot camp” for attorneys, new and established, that helps them become familiar with pro bono work. From the column: “Each of our Thunderdome participants takes on a case and represents a client. At the end of the one-year course, not only do our attorneys better understand the pro bono system and family law, but they are able to experience the great reward from giving the very best legal representation to individuals who otherwise would have been left out.”
