At the Annual Conference of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, held in San Francisco California on May 19 – 21, 2016, Richard B. (Dick) Collins was elected to serve as president of the organization for a two-year term. Dick had been an officer and active board member of the organization.
Dick Collins is from Tallahassee Florida and a member in good standing of the Florida Bar since 1973. He has served the Bar and many leadership roles and is currently the President of the Tallahassee Bar Association. He is married to his wife Connie and together they have four children.
Dick is a member of the Perry & Young law firm, with offices in Panama City, Tallahassee and Marianna, Florida. Collins has focused his practice primarily on medical malpractice claims and has tried cases throughout the state of Florida.
Collins says that he looks forward to serving the legal community as president of the ABPLA and has plans to grow the membership and to make it known throughout the United States that lawyers serving the community, as professional liability attorneys, should be Board Certified just as the public expects their doctors to be Board Certified in their practice area.
Board certification by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys (ABPLA) takes out the question whether an attorney is competent in medical malpractice or legal malpractice by providing information to the consumer of legal services that is verifiable and objective based. Board certification allows the public to know they are choosing someone ethical, knowledgeable, well respected with both their colleagues and the Courts, and have a clear, proven level of proficiency.
